Paris, May 28, 2026 – Carbonfact, the environmental data platform built for apparel and
footwear, has acquired Vaayu Tech GmbH, the Berlin-based product impact platform for retail and fashion.
The deal brings together the two most widely deployed platforms in fashion, combining
Carbonfact’s customer base of 200+ brands such as On, Ganni, and The North Face with
Vaayu’s portfolio and expertise. Vaayu was founded in 2020 by Namrata Sandhu, former Head of Sustainability at Zalando. Backed by $13M from Atomico and CapitalT, the company built one of fashion’s first product-level carbon platforms. Carbonfact is backed by Alven, Headline, and Y Combinator. Both Carbonfact and Vaayu have been named TIME Best Inventions.
“The fashion industry has a data problem that no amount of ambition can solve without the right infrastructure,” said Marc Laurent, CEO of Carbonfact. “Upcoming regulations require a shift from corporate-level data to product-level data. This deal gives the industry a single, rigorous foundation, and it unites two of fashion’s most comprehensive datasets. Vaayu’s customers will find a platform that handles every framework and compliance deadline they face, backed by data depth that no other platform in this sector can match.”
Namrata Sandhu, Founder and CEO of Vaayu, added: “We started Vaayu to give retail and
fashion companies the granular, product-level climate data they need to actually decarbonize, not just report on it. Carbonfact shares that conviction, and together we can deliver it at the scale this industry now requires. Our customers will get the same rigor they trust us for, now paired with the compliance coverage their next chapter demands.”
For Vaayu’s customers, the move means continuity on a platform purpose-built for fashion and footwear, trusted by On, Ganni, The North Face, Burton, and Marc O’Polo, built specifically around how fashion supply chains work. For sustainability teams in apparel and footwear, the timing is pressing: brands across the industry are racing to build their data foundation ahead of several key regulations requiring product-level environmental data, the Digital Product Passport, the French Eco-Score, and California’s SB253.
Carbonfact’s platform covers product impact measurement, carbon accounting, eco-design and environmental reporting such as the Digital Product Passport, built on a rich database of 150,000+ fashion-specific emission factors and primary data from 7,000+ textile factories. The combined platform now serves 300+ apparel and footwear brands.
Looking ahead, as regulatory requirements expand and data volumes grow, Carbonfact is
building toward what it calls Environmental Intelligence: an AI-powered layer that makes
complex climate expertise accessible and actionable for every team in a fashion organization,
enabling any brand to move beyond compliance reporting and actually reduce its impact.
