Known as the "Harrods of the North", the Scottish retailer is challenging industry assumptions by driving a strong engagement rate among its core customer base using Yocuda’s digital receipt solution.
London, 27th October 2026 – House of Bruar, one of Scotland’s leading luxury country lifestyle department stores, has transformed its in-store customer experience with dynamic digital receipts, debunking the assumption that mature shoppers are reluctant to engage with digital retail technology.
By partnering with Yocuda, the market leader in dynamic digital receipts, House of Bruar has unlocked impressive post-purchase engagement. Despite initial concerns regarding its mature customer base – the largest visitor age group is 55 to 64 years old – shoppers have actively interacted with the new digital channel.
Key Engagement Statistics & Performance Highlights:
- 70% Open Rate: digital receipts achieved an exceptional 70% open rate, over four times the standard retail marketing email benchmark of 17%.
- 6% Click-Through Rate: click-through rates reached 6% – nearly nine times the retail industry average of 0.7% – driving store shoppers back to online catalogues, product recommendations, and brand content.
- Seamless In-Store Identification: store colleagues easily capture and validate email addresses at the checkout, bridging the data gap between online and offline shopping behaviours.
- Integrated Digital Gift Receipts: shoppers can send paperless gift receipts with personalised messages directly from their own digital receipt, thereby enabling House of Bruar to encourage gift recipients to sign up to their CRM.
Before implementing Yocuda, House of Bruar had limited visibility into purchasing habits in its physical store. The introduction of digital receipts resolved that issue and turned everyday transaction records into valuable post-purchase touchpoints, proving that more mature demographics respond to convenient, simple, and high-value digital experiences.
"Digital receipts have been a valuable addition to the in-store customer journey, giving customers a convenient, paperless way to keep track of their purchases while also creating another touchpoint with House of Bruar," said Ali Black, Head of Retail at House of Bruar.
"While some customers may choose to continue their journey online rather than return to store, this still benefits the business by keeping customers engaged with the wider brand and making it easier for them to shop across both our physical and online channels."
“As we run a legacy POS, integration was the part of the project we expected to be most difficult. In practice, Yocuda worked around our existing setup, built and tested the integration on our test POS, and we went from project start to live across all tills in just a few weeks, without needing a third-party integrator and with very little demand on our internal team." – Iain Jackson, Head of IT
"Digital receipts have helped us bridge the data gap between our in-store and online customers, giving us greater visibility of customers who previously may only have interacted with us in store," added John Hodge, Head of E-commerce and Mail Order. "This has allowed us to better connect their online and offline journeys, build a more recognised picture of customer behaviour and, importantly, continue engaging with them beyond their visit to House of Bruar."
