Leading computerized flat knitting solutions provider SHIMA SEIKI MFG., LTD. of Wakayama, Japan is exhibiting at the Knit-Tech 2026 Exhibition in Tirupur, India, in cooperation with its partner Universal MEP Projects & Engineering Services Ltd. Known as the knitwear capital of India, Tirupur is home to a vast knitting industry consisting mainly of circular knitwear exports of cotton products. SHIMA SEIKI will be introducing the latest computerized flat knitting equipment to this market as proposals for sustainable production through innovative shaping technology and the latest digital solutions.
SHIMA SEIKI’s lineup at Knit-Tech is headed by its N.SSR®132 garment shaping machine in 14 gauge. The N.SSR®132 is a brand-new model of the N.SSR® series, SHIMA SEIKI’s global standard in shaped knitting, and builds on proven and renowned SHIMA SEIKI technology such as the R2CARRIAGE® system, Digital Stitch Control System (DSCS®) and spring-type moveable sinker system, and features a 52-inch (132 cm) knitting width and optional sub-rollers to accommodate larger sizes, offering the flexibility required for responding to diverse customer and market needs. Made-in-Japan quality, reliability, productivity, user-friendliness and cost-performance combine to satisfy the high expectations placed on India’s exports to the world’s fashion industry, and for domestic consumption as well. Also shown at Knit-Tech is the N.SSR®072 computerized jacquard collar machine that can produce shaped collars efficiently based on computer-generated designs, shown in 16 gauge.
Demonstrations are available on SHIMA SEIKI’s SDS®-ONE APEX4 3D design system, which supports the creative side of fashion from planning and design to realistic fabric simulation and 3D virtual sampling. Virtual samples are a digitized version of sample making that are accurate enough to be used effectively as prototypes, replacing physical sampling and consequently reducing time, cost and material that otherwise go to waste. Moreover, users can take advantage of this capability not only on the design side but also on the production side. Suppliers can make proposals by leveraging their own expertise in knitting and materials, allowing accelerated product development. When a design is approved for production, knitting data which is automatically generated can be converted easily into machine data, digitally bridging the gap between design studio and knitting factory. SDS®-ONE APEX4 helps to realize sustainability and manufacturing transparency, which has become increasingly important for exports to conscientious consumer markets worldwide while digitally transforming the fashion supply chain. The product planning capability of SDS®-ONE APEX4 is enhanced by several web services which will also be demonstrated alongside the design system.
