Key Takeaways:
- This spring, The Interline will release The AI Report 2024 – the latest in our signature series of deep-dive, free-to-download industry reports, and the first to tackle the big questions around AI in fashion.
- Across exclusive editorials, interviews, and opinion pieces from industry thinkers, The AI Report 2024 will take a pragmatic perspective – zeroing in on real use cases for artificial intelligence in fashion.
- Slots for writers and technology vendors are open from today. Additional details – and a full visual identity for the report – will be made available soon.
Artificial Intelligence (AI), and generative AI in particular, has become pervasive in an extremely compressed timeframe. A pace so blistering and erratic, in fact, that governments are drawing up first-of-their-kind regulations only after consumer applications saw historic adoption, and some of the most powerful people in tech have called for a moratorium on further research and public implementation while the world wrestles with a massive panel of economic, cultural, and ethical challenges.
It is, in short, impossible to look away from AI right now – even if you might have valid reasons for wanting to. But how much of that fear is justified? On the opposite end of the spectrum, how many of the advertised use cases for AI are actually viable and valuable? And what about the legality of it all?
There’s a lot to untangle when it comes to challenging the hype and validating the potential of AI. But one thing is clear: AI is now an enterprise and consumer product category, as well as working its way into basically every other software segment at the same time.
In fashion, for example, AI is already being used outwardly for trend prediction, data analysis, supply chain visibility and risk exposure, placing digital clothes on generative models, engaging with consumers and much more. And inwardly, behind the scenes, AI is influencing the way brands approach materials, embroidery, sizing, technical specifications – and, again, much more.
To start tackling some of the big questions, and to begin understanding the indelible mark that AI is already leaving on fashion, The Interline will publish its inaugural AI Report this spring.
Supported by SOURCING at MAGIC – the landmark, twice-yearly industry event that The Interline has partnered with to showcase fashion technology in action – the AI Report 2024 will be the latest in our signature series of deep-dive, free-to-download reports.
And like those reports, it will take a balanced, pragmatic perspective on where possibility meets real-world potential. In brief, The AI Report 2024 will contain:
- Editorials from our contributors and other top industry voices about the realities of AI in fashion in 2024.
- Profiles of some of the most notable technology vendors who either specialise in AI application for fashion, or who have integrated AI into their existing portfolios in unique ways.
- Our own analysis of the progress AI has made, and our data-driven perspective on its trajectory for both the near and longer-term future.
Like all content from The Interline, the report will be free to read and will be shaped by the priorities, concerns, and curiosities of fashion professionals who are either actively using AI, actively avoiding it, or who fall somewhere in between those two extremes.
